Whale Watch form Newburyport, MA

I recently traveled to Newburyport, MA for a day long whale watch outing on the 95 foot long all-aluminum motor vessels
Prince of Whales

**************************
Arriving early, I decided to stroll along the quaint center of town.  Since the 'tourist season' was over, now mid September, the shops were slowly opening and the center of town was quiet.

Beautiful restored red-brick buildings line the water-front. Office building, shops of many kinds and trendy
condominiums turn this once bustling ship building port and center of the whaling trade into a revived and thriving community.

Closer to the port the marina is full of pleasure craft and working fishing vessels.

Time to set sail... for the highly productive feeding grounds near Jeffreys Ledge and Stellwagen Bank .  The   all-aluminum motor vessel Prince of Whales is 95 feel long and cruises at 23 mph. It has a large, heated inside cabin with dinette seating.
 **********
Available to the public in the main cabin is a chart plotter that uses GPS input to indicate the Prince of Whales' location, speed and course !

The Prince of Whales crew is supported by Blue Ocean Society for Marine Conversation - a local non-profit organization dedicated to marine conservation through education and research here in
New England.
Blue Ocean's educational program on board the Prince of Whales includes a detailed narration of the animals observed, and a question and answer session with the research staff.

After an enjoyable ride .... out to See the first of many whales were spotted. Off in the distance traveling in a pod feeding together.

How beautiful ....                               35 miles out to sea!

... we were told that the additional 75foot long whale that can't be seen really IS there......

....almost missed it !

Catching a whale by the tail is more difficult than I thought.

The day continued ....such fun!

Harbor Porpoise swim along side our boat.

White-sided Dolphins danced in the wake of or boat.

Check out these dolphins danching around our boat !

Such beautiful creatures of the deep.

Our cruise ended late in the afternoon, just in time for.... Dinner of course !

The beautiful sights are all around this busy port. Pleasure craft fill the yacht clubs and marinas on both sides of the Merrimack River.

Even the gulls have their eye on something, maybe MY dinner !
